Dennis “Bose” Biddle
Dennis “Bose” Biddle, a pitcher in the former Negro Baseball League, pitched for the Chicago American Giants during the 1953 and 1954 seasons. The youngest living player in the history of Negro League Baseball, Biddle was named “The Man Who Beat the Man Who Beat the Man” at age 17 when he out pitched Lefty McKinnis, who was one of the few baseball pitchers who had out-pitched legendary Satchel Paige.
The following year, he was signed to a contract with the Chicago Cubs of the National Baseball League. His baseball career ended after he shattered his ankle during Cubs spring training in 1955. He then enrolled in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and earned a degree in social work.
A retired social worker who helped troubled youth, Biddle now lives in Milwaukee.
